SWF files are typically generated from Adobe products such as Flash and InDesign. Web browsers may play SWF files with Flash Player plugin or they may be played locally with supported media players such as Flash Player. Flash (by Adobe) can no longer edit SWF files after they are published. Flash media format uses various filename extensions but SWF is specifically used to store compiled and published Flash content. Shaders used in STR 3D models or animation are typically expressed in Adobe Graphics Assembly Language (AGAL). An SWF file may contain audio, video, 2D/3D animations, vector graphics, raster graphics, or mini games written with ActionScript. SWF (pronounced "swiff") is a Flash file format mainly used to distribute interactive content on the web. SWF files mostly belong to Flash Player by Adobe.
